HEALTH AND WELLBEING IN TURBULENT TIMES

EXPLORING COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH, HEALTH AWARENESS AND HEALTH EDUCATION

In this blog post, we will discuss the meaning of wholistic health and prevention of disease. We will try and understand mechanisms of disease and how we can prevent disease inception, disease establishment and disease progression.

  • We will review individual health, which consists of physical, psychosocial and spiritual wellbeing. We will also look at the individual's interactions with society and the greater ecological universe.

  • I am Guha Krishnaswamy, a physician trained in Internal Medicine, Allergy, Asthma and Immune system diseases. I graduated from Quillen College of Medicine in Tennessee and from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in baltimore, Maryland.

  • I have recently certified in whole food plant-based medicine (WFPBM) from the University of Winshester, UK and have a certificate in effective writing for health care from Harvard School of Medicine.

  • My goal is to introduce aspects of disease pathogenesis, risk factors and prevention and discuss the wholistic process of living in the world, while leaving minimal ecological and physical footprints.

Individual health can be classified as physicial health (physical wellbeing), pyschosocial health (emotional wellbeing) and spiritual health (understanding one's position within a community, a society and the greater universe). Individual health incorporates an understanding of the pathogenesis and immediate triggers of disease (sedentary habitus, nicotine and alcohol use, recreational drug use and the effects of stress, obesity and genes) and ways to alleviate the establishment and progression of such diseases.

This will incorporate understanding of the roles played by diet/nutrition and exercise as well as the harmful effects of stress and anger, smoking and ingestion of toxins (including alcohol and other drugs)

Every week I will discuss aspects of a disease and the wholistic approach to health. We will incorporate current understanding and research insights that illuminate diseases and chronic disorders.
